Over the years, fan behavior has grown increasingly concerning in more ways than one. From stalking to harassment, most actors and artists have faced troubles from internet trolls. For Dexter: New Blood actor Jack Alcott, this was extreme, especially considering the threats, and here’s what he had to say about the matter!
Dexter: New Blood actor Jack Alcott on receiving threats from fans
Jack Alcott spoke to The Direct in an exclusive interview where he discussed his role in the TV series, but most importantly, the disturbing fan behavior, saying:
“I got death threats for, like, Jesus, a solid year after ‘New Blood.’ And there were a couple that were concerning, but most of them were, ‘I’m gonna Dexter you on a Dexter table.’ A lot of that. And that was upsetting initially, but the more I got it, the more I was reminded that… you don’t need everybody to like you.”
Alcott plays the role of Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s teenage son, in the slasher TV series Dexter: New Blood. It is a cult classic series that focuses on the aftermath of Dexter staging his own death.
As he goes discreetly, he is soon on the run but is found by his son, and as a result, he also goes back to his old ways. This is also after him being on the run, especially since the police are tracking him in every aspect.
Harrison, in the TV series, is a much different character than most fans suggest. They are averse to him being a bratty teenager compared to him being a supportive character in Resurrection.
Also, one of the reasons why fans hate the character so much is that he takes matters into his own hands. His putting an end to Dexter was what triggered most fans, but the actor eventually came to terms with the fans’ online hate.
After all, if his character managed to make fans hate him, he did an excellent job, which he admitted in the interview. His character’s progression in the series isn’t easy considering how morally conflicted Harrison truly was.
Dexter: New Blood is available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
