At the recent CinemaCon, a Transformers movie was officially announced by Paramount. The update has fans excited for the most part, and Shia LaBeouf hinted at his return to the movie. His recent update has fans divided for the most part, and here’s why.
Shia LaBeouf set to return to Transformers amid controversy
CinemaCon recently confirmed that the new Transformers film is under production. It will be headlined under the Paramount banner, and to add to the news, Shia LaBeouf also said he’s returning for the upcoming movie, as confirmed by Steel City Comic Con. He said, “I’m working on it.”
But here’s the thing. His return is contentious, especially given the allegations and controversy he is entangled in. The Disturbia actor was accused earlier of battery and assault by his former partner, FKA Twigs.
The account was laden with disturbing details and the nature of the incident. It all started in 2021 when she made those details public, and later on, LaBeouf admitted to hurting ‘that woman’ in the Real Ones podcast back in 2022.
“I f—-d up bad, like crash and burn type stuff. [I] hurt a lot of people, and I’m fully aware of that. And I’m going to owe for the rest of my life. I hurt that woman, and in the process of doing that, I hurt many other people and many other people before that woman. I was a pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, inconsiderate, fearful human being.”
Later on, both Twigs and LaBeouf agreed on a settlement that called for the singer not to disclose details about the abuse. The NDA would bar her from speaking about the SA completely, which is why she filed a case in 2026 to counter it.
This isn’t the first time LaBeouf faced charges for battery. In February this year, the actor was charged with assaulting two men on account of misconduct and using slurs. This happened on the premises of a bar in Mardi Gras.
Following the allegations, controversies, and troubled behavior by Labeouf, many fans feel discontented by his inclusion in the franchise. Others, however, celebrated his return in the upcoming movie.
