Courtenay Valenti has once again made it clear that she has no interest in rushing the search for the next 007. According to Amazon MGM’s head of film, the studio is taking its time to find the right replacement for Daniel Craig, and making a hasty announcement just to please the fans would not feel right.

Amazon MGM urges patience as the search for the next James Bond continues

Speaking about the future of the franchise at CinemaCon 2026, Valenti said the process of casting the new lead is being handled with more caution than ever before. “I know you’re all wondering when we’re going to announce who’s playing James Bond,” Valenti explained during the presentation.

She added that the responsibility of rebooting the series after the $8.45 billion acquisition is something the studio is not taking lightly. “Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect. It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter.

For Valenti, the series is inseparable from the high standards set by the previous films. She has repeatedly said she has no interest in cutting corners, even with director Denis Villeneuve and screenwriter Steven Knight already attached to the project.

In her view, any version of Bond that doesn’t have the perfect lead actor at the center would simply fall short.

The studio has also become more outspoken about protecting the legacy of the character.

Producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman have reportedly joined the team to ensure the 2028 release meets the massive expectations of the global audience. Recently, Valenti addressed the “elephant in the room” regarding the long wait for news.

Despite the pressure from fans and oddsmakers alike, she said she truly believes that too many modern franchises ruin their potential by not waiting until the time is right to share their secrets.

That film is coming,” Valenti said. “And when the time is right, we’ll have much more to share.”

Instead, the studio believes that focusing on the “world-class filmmaking team” they have assembled remains the perfect way to build anticipation.
