A Broadway career is no cakewalk, especially when it has to do with musicals. It’s another world of its own, blanketed with the glitz and glam, and The Hunger Games star Rachel Zegler is no stranger to it. She is about to bedazzle the stage with her performance in the upcoming Evita, and here’s everything we know so far!
Rachel Zegler featured in Evita’s Broadway Show
Rachel Zegler played the role of Eva Peron in Evita, which was her debut in the prestigious West End theater. The 2025 musical is based on the book of the same name, written by Tim Rice.
As reported by Pop Base on X, Evita is now being transferred to Broadway, and this is indeed huge for the Snow White star. Zegler previously also starred in Romeo + Juliet, where she played the role of Juliet Capulet.
This isn’t a first for the actress since she started off her Hollywood career with the 2021 film West Side Story, a remake of the 1957 musical. This was directed by none other than Steven Spielberg himself.
Evita follows the story of Argentina’s First Lady Eva Perón, the journey of the influential lady and her rise from poverty to being one of the most powerful figures in Argentina.
Even as the wife of Juan Perón, she held influence and control over the people and reigned over them through her philanthropic contributions.
She was mainly known for her charitable work, helping earthquake victims, labor unions and workers, and also orphans who were subsequently shunned and neglected by society at that time.
Zegler’s casting as Evita has been praised by many people who are now vouching for the actress’s Tony nomination. This is mainly attributed to her training and her extensive background in theater and singing.
She started her career at the age of 12 when she played a minor role in Fiddler on the Roof. Then she went on to work in her school’s theater production, including an adaptation of Les Misérables.
Other than Evita, Zegler is also working on The Last Five Years’ musical production, based on the musical written by Jason Robert Brown.
