Millie Bobby Brown revealed what’s in store for her titular character ahead of the July 1 release of Netflix’s Enola Holmes 3 this year. The logline of the franchise’s third installment confirms that the storyline takes Enola away from London’s bustling streets to the serene beaches of Malta. It’s where she’ll navigate both her professional and personal life while untangling the most “treacherous” case ever. Given the stakes, Brown teased a more fleshed-out version of her character this time.
Millie Bobby Brown promises a refined but developing Enola
Back in January, the streaming giant announced the summer release of Enola Holmes 3 as part of the Next on Netflix 2026 segment. It’s going to be 1 hour and 45 minutes long. The announcement also featured the movie’s first-look pictures shot along the beaches and ocean of Malta, confirming the change in scenery for the movie’s third part.
Moreover, it shows Ernest Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) down on one knee and popping the big question to Brown’s character, who looks terrified. But don’t jump the gun just yet, as the Stranger Things actress teases more complexity for her character. “What I love about this chapter is that Enola is stepping into a version of herself that feels much more defined but still evolving,” Millie said in a statement via What’s on Netflix.
“She’s built something for herself, which is amazing, but she’s also questioning what she wants next, and I think that’s something so many people can relate to,” she added. Directed by Philip Barantini, the upcoming PG-13 movie’s storyline remains under wraps. But according to PEOPLE, fans can expect the gripping plot to offer substantial emotional development to its lead characters.
Meanwhile, the project will feature Brown, Partridge, Himesh Patel, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter. Jack Thorne reprises her role as the project’s screenplay writer, while Brown’s husband, Jake Bongiovi, serves as one of the executive producers. Additionally, Brown touched upon her on-screen chemistry with Patridge.
“…What’s been really nice is getting to explore a more mature version of Enola and Tewkesbury’s relationship,” she said. “It’s not just playful anymore; it has real weight to it. We trust each other a lot, which means we can take more risks and really lean into the emotional side of their story.” Do you think Enola and Ernest can make it work in the face of potential high-stakes drama?
