Grey’s Anatomy is going strong with its 22nd Season. The medical drama had some of the most swoonworthy romances and its fair share of heartbreaks. One such love story was Owen and Teddy’s, and here’s whatKevin McKidd had to say regarding the couple’s ending in the show.
Kevin McKidd on Owen and Teddy’s ending in Grey’s Anatomy
Kevin McKidd was asked by Entertainment Tonight about what he thought about Teddy and Owen getting a happy ending, to which he replied:
I think it shows a lot of growth in the character of Owen that Teddy kind of chased after him a lot in a lot of the seasons and would kind of follow Owen wherever he was going. He saves this family in this bridge collapse, and that family kind of is a metaphor for Owen’s trauma that he’s been carrying all of his life.
McKidd played Owen Hunt in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, where his character is the Head of Trauma, but it also says a lot about his past life as well.
Hunt was a former army surgeon who had PTSD, and it stemmed from his inability to save his platoon during the military operation. It also closed him off emotionally, especially when it came to his bond with Teddy.
Both of them were friends back in the army days, and their love story was a slow burn throughout the series. They nearly got divorced, and it was the slow realization that brought them back together in the recent season.
McKidd also noted how his character showed immense growth over the years and how one incident completely shaped his idea of how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Teddy.
He realized that life is too short and I can’t live without this woman, and I’m going to go with I’m going to follow her now. It’s my turn to follow her and for her to take the lead and for her to drive the car and for me to be beside her and support her, and it shows real growth.
Grey’s Anatomy is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
