HBO’s Harry Potter cast members under strict protocol after theft on the set

Harry Potter tv series' cast put under strict supervision following theft of props.

HBO’s Harry Potter TV series is one of the most anticipated releases of 2026. There’s magic, there’s mayhem, and mostly, the series is book accurate, but things aren’t looking too well for the cast. This is mainly because of the theft that the entire cast is being put under supervision, and here’s everything we know about it so far!

HBO Harry Potter cast under supervision following theft

As reported by The Sun, recently, several props from HBO’s Harry Potter set went missing. Spell books, wands, broomsticks, and various other valuable props were stolen, as the outlet reported.

It is also reported that the directors and showrunners are furious following the theft and have resorted to heavy surveillance of the staff, including the cast. The response is valid considering the market value of the Harry Potter props, and back when the movies ended, several actors took the props with them.

Daniel Radcliffe took the signature round glasses, Emma Watson took her wand, robe, and most importantly, the time-turner, which she wore in the series.

As for Tom Felton, he took the Slytherin Ring back home, and only recently have people been sharing his comment and advice to actor Lox Pratt. Felton jokingly advised Pratt to steal as many props as he could in a March interview when he appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

While fans are sharing his past comments and responding to this current update, there’s one thing we should know. The props are some of the prized possessions of the entire team, mainly because they are auctioned off at some point.

In April 2026, it was reported by People that the props sold off for a whopping $85,000, with the Marauder’s Map being auctioned off for $300k. However, there have been cases of theft in the past where a Warner Bros employee took the merchandise and sold it off online back in 2017 and 2018.

As of now, the directors and showrunners have planned on microchipping the items, be it broomsticks, wands, and even books, to heighten and elevate the surveillance. The team is also scanning through eBay and other retail websites to make sure those items aren’t pawned off.
