Apple TV has confirmed that Ted Lasso will return for its long-awaited Season 4. In a highly awaited announcement, it was revealed that the show is in production, with the new season premiering in mid-2026—to be more precise, on August 5th of that year. Although the last season (which aired in 2023) served as a conclusive one, the new episodes are considered a continuation rather than a revival of Ted Lasso’s adventures.

Premiere date, story update, and main characters

The fourth season will release once again using the weekly premiere model; it is going to run from August 5th and conclude on October 7th, 2026. As for production, Ted Lasso Season 4 has been filmed in Kansas City and London. The longest break in the series’ release history has occurred between Seasons 3 and 4, during which about three and a half years have passed.

What is perhaps the biggest change in the story of this season? Well, the protagonist, Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), comes back to London but with a different position at hand: this time around, he coaches a second-division women’s football team. The overarching theme of Ted Lasso Season 4 seems to be risk-taking and personal growth; it can be summarized with the phrase ‘leap before you look.’

In Tim Cook’s shared video glimpses of the upcoming show, viewers saw a scene where Ted was asked why he coaches women when it comes to football. The storyline should be focused on the concept of respect for female players and their achievements.

Besides the lead role, all actors playing Ted’s friends return. Thus, the cast of Ted Lasso includes Jason Sudeikis, who plays the eponymous character; Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton; Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent; Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard; Juno Temple as Keeley Jones; and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins.

Ted’s son, Henry, gets a recasting with Grant Feely replacing the former actor, Kevin Alves. New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern; all of them are related to the new storyline of the show.

As for the behind-the-scenes crew, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Jason Sudeikis remain the same. Besides, Apple TV’s Ted Lasso gains a new writer and producer under its umbrella—Jack Burditt, whose contract with Warner Bros. Entertainment is coming to an end. Two other writers, Brett Goldstein and Leann Bowen, stay within the team.

The preparation of this season has taken much time because it required new contract agreements with several cast members. Fortunately, Warner Bros. Television managed to obtain them at the end of 2024.
