It’s become public knowledge that Gen V got canceled after 2 seasons. The news made several fans upset and angry to the point of troubling Eric Kripke, but The Boys’ director finally spoke out, and here’s what he said regarding the show being scrapped!
Eric Kripke clears the air on Gen V’s cancellation
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Eric Kripke addressed Gen V’s cancellation and how the spinoffs can possibly take the story going forward.
I did not cancel the show. One, I don’t have the power to do that. Two, I was fighting to keep the show, almost more than anybody else on Earth. So I’m as bummed as everybody else out there.
To give some context, it was only yesterday that the news of Gen V being cancelled after 2 seasons, that fans started flooding Kripke’s DMs on his social media.
Many of them were fuming, but that’s not all. They threw in insults, and while the anger is understandable, the actions aren’t justifiable. Kripke said that the majority of the decisions aren’t up to him and are well above his pay grade.
It is valid considering how many streaming giants and production companies scrap shows after the first or second season. Gen V is no different, but it truly was a letdown for most people eagerly looking forward to a third season.
What we do know is that Gen V’s storyline could be explored further in Vought Rising, as Kripke suggested. While a prequel to The Boys, Vought Rising will expand on the events happening in the 1950s. He even hinted at Amazon’s interest in the storylines and their potential.
Both, Gen V, Vought Rising, and The Boys are set in the same universe but in different timelines. Gen V follows the story of Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, where the premise is set. The adult supes train hard to seek out their ambitions, one of them being to join Vought International’s elite superhero squad.
Kripke is currently working on Vought Rising, which is slated for release in 2027.
Gen V is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime.
