Elle Legally Blonde prequel gets a release date

Elle, the upcoming prequel to the iconic Legally Blonde franchise, has released its first teaser trailer featuring Lexi Minetree as young Elle Woods.

Amazon Prime Video has just launched the first teaser trailer for Elle. It’s a prequel series based on the iconic Legally Blonde franchise, and is set to grace our screens on July 1. So, without further delay, let’s get into the nitty-gritty details of the show.

Elle explores the teen years of the main protagonist of Legally Blonde

The show explores Elle Woods’ teenage or high-school years before she enters Harvard Law School. Lexi Minetree is making her Hollywood debut by taking on the role of young Elle Woods. She bagged the role following an extensive casting search personally overseen by Reese Witherspoon, who played the lead role in the original films.

The series “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ film,” as per Elle‘s official logline. Alongside Minetree, the series stars June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, and the late James Van Der Beek.

The trailer opens with Elle, in her signature pink attire, learning that her family is moving from their current home to Seattle because her father has a new job. She is shown reacting dramatically to the news, crying about the move to a new city and expressing her dismay by saying, “I can’t even say it, Seattle.” Meanwhile, the teaser shows the titular character arriving at her new high school, feeling out of place, and struggling to adjust to a new social environment.

The teaser focuses on her iconic pink, confident aesthetic, establishing her “bejeweled aura” before she becomes a Harvard law student. The series will also feature a recurring ensemble cast that includes Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, and Matt Ober.

“Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production! Couldn’t be more excited to introduce you all to @leximinetree as Elle Woods,” Witherspoon announced on Instagram last year. Created by Laura Kittrell, the series has been executive-produced by Reese Witherspoon through Hello Sunshine. Are you pumped to watch Elle? Let us know in the comments section below.
