Fans have been losing it since The Summer I Turned Pretty author and show creator Jenny Han announced the titular movie in September 2025. But in the wake of a privacy breach and safety risks during recent shoots, Amazon Prime Video has finally taken matters into its hands. The platform has released a statement, urging fans to show respect and avoid potential leaks. Check the full scoop below.
Amazon steps in to curb chaos during the TSITP film shoot
As reported by Variety, Amazon has requested The Summer I Turned Pretty viewers to respect the privacy of the show’s cast and crew. The move comes after some fans, who were visiting the sets, leaked pictures and shooting locations online. One of the pictures making the rounds features Lola Tung (Belly Conklin) and Christopher Briney (Conrad Fisher) on the set of the upcoming project.
The picture kept fans guessing, as it didn’t give any major hints. But since the filming began just last month in North Carolina, the show’s creators and Prime Video have a long schedule ahead. Naturally, they can’t risk any storyline leaks because this movie will serve as the series finale. In a statement, the streaming platform set the record straight.
“We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting sets disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew,” the TSITP’s official X handle wrote on Tuesday. “We’re working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it’s ready to be shared.”
Moreover, the message came with a short clip, showing three people writing, “PRIVACY PLEASE” in the sand. Mind you, this isn’t the first time the platform has taken such a measure. In a July 2025 interview with Variety for the season 3 premiere, former Amazon TV chief Vernon Sanders shed light on the company’s past request to fans against “bullying” and “hate speech.”
“We’ve had similar situations in the past with adaptations, where there is a fanbase out there that I think can get rowdy, and it sometimes can blur the line between characters and actors or overstep,” he said. “And so we really appreciate them and appreciate their passion, but we’re trying to be more proactive about setting expectations of what we want to encourage and maybe what we find not appropriate. And I think our creators and our cast really appreciate us taking the proactive stance there.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of Amazon Prime’s most popular TV shows. It first graced the platform in 2022, introducing a love triangle among Belly and two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). Despite mixed reviews, the show aired for three seasons. The last one came out in July last year and garnered 70 million viewers within 70 days of the first episode’s release.
With Han planning to conclude the storyline with the upcoming movie, the chatter around it has only gotten louder. But so far, Prime Video has kept all the major details under wraps.
