5 things that you missed in ‘Legally Blonde’ prequel ‘Elle’ trailer

Before Harvard, there was high school. Discover 5 things you missed in the Legally Blonde prequel "Elle" trailer, including a major move!

Legally Blonde’s much-awaited prequel series is finally here! Elle is all set to invoke nostalgia with its Y2k vibes. It’s sure to bring back memories, but here are 5 things you may have missed in the trailer!

5. Elle Woods uses a pager in the prequel

Legally Blonde, as we all know, doesn’t skimp on pink, and this is especially true for Elle’s phone. In the movie, she doesn’t really use a pager, while here we see an ice candy pink colored pager that shows her name written on it. The movie, on the other hand, shows Elle using a flip phone, and this is where the prequel draws contrast in the timeline.

4. The Y2K fashion brings back 90s and 2000s nostalgia

It’s not just the pager, but every element in the series’ trailer brings back the Y2K nostalgia, which is done brilliantly through the use of technology and fashion. The trailer shows Elle Woods’ iconic heart-strapped sandals, the pink landline phone, and, oh, not to mention, the rhinestone-studded atomizer that was way popular in the 90s and early 2000s.

3. Both the movie and the show use this Barbie song

Elle has yet another hidden detail that very few people noticed, and that is, the usage of this iconic Barbie song. Perfect Day is an OST from the movie Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar.

Legally Blonde didn’t use the Aqua song because of, well, legal issues, but they used this song eventually. The sequel follows the same suit, and it uses the same song in the trailer.

2. Elle Woods’ hidden Sharpay Evans reference

This is a hit or miss detail, especially if you’re not a High School Musical fan. We know how much Sharpay and Elle have in common, and that is, their flair for pink and their praiseworthy fashion sense.

To make it even better, the Elle trailer features a scene where her parents break the news of their moving to Seattle. The setup is similar to when Sharpay and Gabriella talk to each other in HSM2: the pink reclining chair and the oh-so-good summery vibes, but here’s the big reveal!

1. Bruiser’s early introduction in the prequel

For those who know, Elle adopts Bruiser after her nasty breakup with Warner in Legally Blonde. The dog was gifted to her by her Sorority Sisters, and he became her companion through her struggles in Harvard. She even lets Vivan pet the dog in one of the scenes.

In the prequel, though, Bruiser is introduced early on, and it does affect how the entire trajectory of the show will capture Elle’s relationship with her sorority sisters at the Delta Nu.

Other than that, the show also brings back other references, including Elle’s birthday card, her iconic halter neck dresses, and Bruiser being a lucky charm for her, and so on!

Elle releases on 1st July 2026 on Prime Video.
