Mindy Cohn has had a long history of battling cancer. Recently, the 59-year-old actress revealed that she had been secretly undergoing treatment again for some time. In fact, she is itching to get back to normalcy for her “new adventure.”
Mindy Cohn battles cancer for the second time
In a long Instagram post, Cohn revealed that she has not been on social media for a while, as she was dealing with a serious health issue. She shared the news on Instagram while posting a picture of herself in a hospital bed, stating that she was busy kicking “cancer’s a–.” Notably, she did not disclose the type of cancer she was dealing with this time.
“Have been off social media for a while ’cuz I had to go kick cancer’s ass,” she wrote on Instagram, and thanked the doctors and staff members of Providence Saint John’s Hospital for taking good care of her while she was undergoing treatment.
“I did so with the extraordinary help of Providence Saint John’s hospital staff, especially my nurses Finja, Patty and Courtney and my hero, the phenomenal gastrointestinal oncology surgeon Dr. Anton Bilchik,” she further stated.
The Facts of Life star further stated that she will be in recovery for another couple of weeks before starting out on her “next adventure.”
“Recouping for another couple of weeks and then ready for my next adventure. Onwards! F— Cancer!” the Velma voice actress from the Scooby-Doo franchise stated.
This is the second time she has been battling cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. She went through rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy, but the illness persisted and recurred over several years.
“The cancer metastasized. It kept spreading and coming back. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it would. And then I’d wait for another shoe to drop, and it would. I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it,” she had earlier told People. But, finally, in 2017, she declared that she was cancer-free.
Nevertheless, she has received a lot of love and support in the comment section of her Instagram post this time from fellow celebrities like Helen Hunt, Sarah Paulson, and Octavia Spencer.
As she is currently recovering after treatment, let’s hope she undergoes a speedy recovery and becomes cancer-free again.
