Tom Hiddleston was all set to appear in the popular British reality TV game show Celebrity Traitors. Despite being heavily rumored to be part of the show’s second season, the appearance did not materialize due to scheduling conflicts. Read on to get the lowdown.
Hiddleston reportedly disappointed at the last-minute Celebrity Traitors exit
According to The Sun, Tom Hiddleston had to pull out of the second season of Celebrity Traitors at the last minute due to filming commitments that could not be rescheduled. The British actor was reportedly very disappointed not to be part of the BBC One show. The news first emerged in local media reports, which claimed he had been lined up for the celebrity edition before production plans clashed with an undisclosed film project.
Notably, the reports did not reveal exactly which film forced him to cancel his plans to participate in the murder-mystery game show. The Avengers actor had publicly acknowledged his love for the show earlier this year while promoting The Night Manager. During a BBC Radio 2 appearance, he described The Traitors as “maybe the best television” he had seen.“I think the format is just the most ingenious thing, isn’t it? It’s completely compulsive,” he said.
Moreover, Hiddleston discussed whether he would rather play as a “Traitor” or a “Faithful.” He joked that being a faithful would let him play detective, while being a traitor would feel more like an acting exercise. “I don’t know, I think it would be really interesting to be a Faithful, because then you have to, you could play detectives, right?” he said.
“And you know your conscience is clean, and [your] heart is pure, and you’re just watching and trying to figure people out. If you’re a Traitor, it’s more [of] an acting exercise,” he added. The reality show’s first season was a star-studded affair, featuring several prominent names. These included Stephen Fry, Tom Daley, Jonathan Ross, and Paloma Faith, among others.
The show blew up in the UK, with the Season 1 finale drawing around 15.4 million viewers after consolidated ratings. The incredible numbers made it one of the biggest entertainment shows on British television last year. Would you have wanted to see Tom Hiddleston in season 2 of Celebrity Traitors?
