The NBC show no one expected Netflix to pick up

After being written off on network television, Found is ready to find a new audience on Netflix.

We are all pretty much excited to see all the renowned HBO Max shows and Warner Bros. franchises, such as The Lord of the Rings, movies made by Christopher Nolan, Harry Potter and the Wizarding World, etc., under one OTT platform, Netflix. And given that all eyes are now on Netflix, one canceled NBC series is about to find its new life on the same platform as well.

The highly rated procedural drama Found is ready to make the jump from network television to Netflix. For those who don’t know, Found was once quietly written off as another ratings casualty, which is currently positioned for rediscovery, with the world’s largest streaming service giving all the viewers a binge-ready thriller.

The show stars Shanola Hampton, and the main baseline centers on a crisis management and PR firm that is known for locating missing people who are overlooked by law enforcement and media attention.

The show holds a history of a very strong and well-respected launch, which quickly stood out amid NBC’s crowded shows.

According to industry reports, its premiere drew more than ten million viewers across platforms in its first week, making it the network’s strongest streaming launch at the time and signaling real potential for longevity.

But recently, the NBC network has shared its thoughts on how it is currently facing hardship to sustain the hype that it once created. In the recent season that aired from 2024–25, there was a steep decline in viewership that ultimately led to its cancellation in May 2025.

The decision came as part of a wider programming shakeup that also claimed several dramas and comedies, driven less by creative failure than by scheduling realities. With NBC expanding its NBA deals, it has reportedly reduced the space for scripted entertainment, creating a huge void for modest performers and exposing them in a very vulnerable space.

So, thinking about how some shows, sadly, lose their audience because certain networks have to keep up with the trend, Netflix’s acquisition changes the entire story. Both seasons of Found, totaling thirty-five episodes, will arrive on the platform simultaneously on January 2, 2026. For existing fans who have followed this show from the very beginning, it offers closure and accessibility.

And despite renewed visibility, as per the reports, a third season remains officially off the table. NBC has confirmed it will not continue the series, but as we know Netflix’s history, that suggests strong streaming numbers could reopen conversations, leading to maybe another season of the show in a new light. Several once-canceled shows have enjoyed unexpected revivals after finding large audiences on the platform, and Found now enters that familiar proving ground.
