Stanley Tucci defends his 21-year age gap with wife Felicity Blunt

Stanley Tucci opened up about his 21-year age gap with wife, Felicity Blunt, revealing how she helped him and kids find “a sense of security.”

Stanley Tucci was previously married to Kathryn Spath Tucci before losing her to breast cancer in 2009. He later married Felicity Blunt, the sister of his The Devil Wears Prada co-star Emily Blunt. In a recent interview, he defended the significant age gap he shares with his current wife.

Tucci believes Felicity has brought a “sense of security” to him and his children

During a recent appearance on Open Book with Jenna, the 65-year-old actor admitted that he had no plans of remarrying or having children following his first wife’s death from breast cancer in 2009. But then came Felicity Blunt, who gave him and his kids a “sense of security” that made him reconsider his decision not to marry again.

Despite the 21-year age gap with his current wife, Stanley reflected on how she helped rebuild his life following the devastating loss. “I never thought I would have children again. And when I met her, it just sort of made sense, even though there is this age gap of 21 years,” Tucci said, adding, “She changed my life in the sense that she gave me a sense of security. She gave my children a sense of security. And she’s fun to hang out with.”

Tucci first met Felicity at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada in 2006 and reconnected years later at Emily Blunt’s wedding to John Krasinski in 2010. Speaking about the relationship, he said that they immediately “hit it off” and bonded despite being very different people. “And obviously, I knew her family, or I knew her sister was one of my best friends. And we just hit it off,” he stated.

“We had a lot in common, even though we had nothing in common. And it just sort of stuck.” The actor shares three children with the late Kathryn Spath-Tucci: twins Isabel and Nicolo, and daughter Camilla. Tucci later married Felicity in 2012, and they now have two children of their own: Matteo and Emilia. In past interviews, he admitted to having initially tried to end the relationship because he feared feeling “old” given the 21-year age difference.

However, the actor ultimately realized Felicity was “an incredibly special person.” And the rest is history. What do you think about Tucci’s massive age gap with Felicity Blunt? Let us know in the comments.
