The critically acclaimed Apple TV show Severance has been renewed for a third season. The gap between the release of the first two seasons was nearly three years. With fans concerned about a possible delay in the release of the next installment, actor Adam Scott gave an update on whether it would come out sooner than the previous delay.
Scott says team will prioritize greatness over speed for third season
Speaking to Deadline on the red carpet at the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards, Adam Scott revealed that the team is doing everything within its capacity to shorten the wait for the third season. However, he did not give any concrete timeline for the production of Season 3. He further hinted that they are unwilling to compromise on the quality of the upcoming installment just to quell fans’ desire for a shorter release window.
“I think we are always trying to shorten the amount of time between seasons. But, it’s more important for it to be great than for it to be fast,” he said. However, Scott added that the team is actively trying to speed up production, with plans to release the third season much sooner than last time.
“We’re definitely planning on getting it out much sooner than the last round, which was three years, and that’s too long,” he further added.
It must be noted that filming for the third season of Severance has not begun yet, but the actor confirmed at the red carpet event that production will begin “very soon.”
Furthermore, in an earlier interview with Variety, Scott said that he knew how the high-concept psychological thriller series would conclude and promised that the third season would be full of surprises.
“I’m an executive producer on the show, so I’m involved in all of it. We talk with the writers and Dan [Erickson] all the time. I know everything about what’s going on. [As an actor] I like having as much information as possible,” Scott said.
“It’s going to be great. There are so many surprises. I can’t wait to shoot it,” he added.
