Yes, Samara Weaving is returning as Grace Le Domas for the sequel to the 2019 hit Ready or Not, titled Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. With the film now in theaters following its March 20 release, Weaving opened up in a recent interview about what it feels like to wear that iconic wedding dress once again.
Samara Weaving was very excited to put the wedding dress back on
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes ahead of the film’s release, Samara Weaving revealed what it was like putting on the wedding dress that turned out to be nightmarish for her character in the movie. She shared that on the day of shooting, she felt like a superhero while wearing it.
“On the day when we were shooting it and putting it back on, it was really exciting. It felt like a superhero putting the armor back on, you know?” Weaving stated.
The actress also revealed that bringing back the dress was a point of discussion for the film’s writers, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. “When Guy and Ryan were writing it, like, how do we get her back in the iconic dress? Do we get her in the dress? Does she wear something that Faith has? Everyone wanted to have that moment of Grace in the dress back. So it was really exciting.”
As seen in the trailer, the stakes are even higher this time, as Grace is dragged into an even deadlier game involving multiple powerful families vying for control. She is forced to fight not just to survive, but to win.
Grace is joined by her estranged sister, Faith, played by Kathryn Newton, whom she must protect while being hunted. The story picks up from the events of the first installment, where the newly married bride survives the kill-or-be-killed game orchestrated by the groom’s family.
With Samara Weaving returning and new characters entering the chaotic ritual, this sequel looks set to deliver a bloodier, more intense experience that could elevate the franchise further. Now that it is out in theatres, this is one action-horror flick you don’t want to miss.
