Ever thought why a movie about a girl’s brain being put into a robot beaver is suddenly the biggest thing on your home screen? And why did it take a “robotic uprising” to finally save Pixar’s original storytelling streak? Well, it seems like Hoppers is officially ready for your living room after a massive theatrical run, and here’s everything you should know about it!

Pixar original Hoppers hits digital after $367 million run

As reported by Variety, Disney and Pixar’s latest hit is moving from the big screen to the small one. After spending nearly two months dominating theaters, Hoppers is set to land on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV on April 28, 2026.

Nicholas Tan, a box office analyst, gave his insight into how this move marks a massive win for the studio in a recent report.

Pixar can finally breathe a sigh of relief for Hoppers. The original movie has earned a total of $367 million, which is incredibly close to the break-even point and marks their best original run in years.”

For the uninitiated, Hoppers follows Mabel Tanaka, an animal lover who transfers her consciousness into a hyper-realistic robot beaver to infiltrate the animal kingdom.

It’s a wild concept, a sci-fi comedy, and most importantly, a return to form for a studio that has struggled with original IPs lately. With a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the “robot beaver” gamble clearly paid off.

However, the journey wasn’t without its hurdles. There were several criticisms regarding whether original animation could still compete with massive sequels.

Some critique the film’s box office for not hitting the $500 million mark, but more often than not, those comparisons are unfair. It also has to do with the kind of competition that went on in early 2026. With The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hogging the IMAX screens, Hoppers had to fight for every dollar it made.

Earlier, Pixar’s Elemental and Elio had much rockier paths to profitability. It would be fascinating to see how the home release numbers for Hoppers compare once it hits 4K UHD and Blu-ray on June 2, 2026.
