This year’s Super Bowl halftime show was headlined by Bad Bunny and garnered massive global attention, reportedly generating over 4 billion views across digital and social platforms. The performance at Levi’s Stadium was a celebration of Latin and Puerto Rican culture and was performed entirely in Spanish. In a recent interview, Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal revealed what it was like to appear in one of the segments of the global pop icon’s power-packed performance.

Casita segment was a “deer in headlights” moment for Pascal

In an interview with Fantastic Man, Pedro Pascal revealed that he wasn’t originally booked as a performer for Bad Bunny’s show. The Fantastic Four star reached out to the Puerto Rican artist’s team, asking to be involved in any capacity, even if it meant “serving coffee.”

“I wanted to participate in any way – literally a volunteer position, like serving coffee if needed – and I put the feelers out through people I work with,” Pascal said.

Pascal, who himself has Latin American heritage, praised the pop star for being a leading figure in Latino representation and celebration. “When it comes to representation synchronized with celebration, there’s no one better than Benito at the moment, and that fills me with inspiration outside of just being super into his music.”

However, he further stated that he didn’t hear back after the initial attempt to reach out, so he sent an email again to Bad Bunny’s team member with a selfie, and it was only then that he was confirmed to make an appearance in the musical event and was instructed to wear beige.

“I was lamenting about not hearing back, and I sent someone an email with a selfie of me sticking my tongue out, being, like, ‘It’s really me.’ Within 25 minutes, they called me back, and they were like, ‘We want you to come to the show,’” he further stated.

However, things got chaotic on the day of the event, as Pascal was sitting in the stands watching the game when he was pulled backstage without much explanation. There, he met major celebrities like Cardi B, Young Miko, Karol G, and Jessica Alba. After a wardrobe check, he was informed by Bad Bunny’s team that he would be dancing, and he suddenly realized that he would be part of the “Casita” segment. Without any rehearsals, he decided to wing it and later described the situation as a “deer in headlights” moment.

“We’re up in the stands watching the game and somebody pulls me from my seat and takes me backstage and then there’s Cardi B and there’s Young Miko and Karol G and Jessica Alba,” Pascal recounted, adding, “They do a wardrobe check and then they tell me, ‘OK, so the vibe is: you’re dancing.’ I started to realize right before they started, and I was like, ‘It’s the Casita. I’m such a f—— idiot. ‘Oh my god, I’m going to be in the Casita,’ as I was being marched out into the field. So I think that’s why I seemed like a deer in headlights.”
