This year’s CinemaCon dropped major updates and reveals. Be it movie releases, future projects, or adaptations, the event was packed with exciting information. Nicholas Hoult also shared an interesting update about his character Lex Luthor in the upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow.
Nicholas Hoult shares a major update on Lex Luthor’s character
Nicholas Hoult attended this year’s CinemaCon, where he shared tidbits about the upcoming film. While James Gunn shared his excitement about the film, Hoult spoke about his character.
He teased “a new villain and an unlikely alliance” while his co-star David Corenswet jokingly commented on it, saying, “Try saving the world with your sworn enemy.”
Is this a first for both Clark and Lex? Well, not really, as they’re both like chalk and cheese. If one were to think about their friendship, one would be reminded of Smallville, which remains one of the iconic portrayals of the duo’s friendship.
The 2025 film Superman was a primer on the rivalry shared by Lex Luthor and Clark Kent. It also showed Luthor as a nefarious villain who would stop at nothing to clear his path, even if it means mispainting Clark in front of the whole world.
Man of Tomorrow is where we see a shift. Both Clark and Lex would need to set their differences aside and work in tandem against a common enemy. They must do so to protect the world, but also to bring down Brainiac, who stands as a formidable threat.
Not only that, Aaron Pierre will reprise his role as the Green Lantern in the upcoming movie. He is also currently working on HBO’s Lanterns.
Aside from Pierre, there’s also Adria Arjona, who is reported to star in the role of Maxima for the movie; however, it hasn’t been officially confirmed. She previously starred in Hit Man alongside Glen Powell.
Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac as per information on IMDb, while Edi Gathegi, David Corenswet, and Nicholas Hoult will reprise their roles of Mister Terrific, Superman, and Lex Luthor.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow is slated for release on July 9th, 2027.
