New cast for ‘Breakfast for Tiffany’s’ announced

New Audrey Hepburn film centers on Breakfast at Tiffany’s chaos, Truman Capote backlash, and Hollywood power struggles, starring Lily Collins.

After more than a decade of fan casting, Lily Collins is officially set to step into the iconic role of Audrey Hepburn. The project, which was confirmed on February 23, 2026, will not be a standard biopic covering the entire life of the legendary star. Instead, it will be a film about the troubled making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the movie that cemented Hepburn’s status as an icon.

Lily Collins to portray Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s

The script is said to be an adaptation of Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M. by Sam Wasson, which is a deep dive into the troubled making of the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The movie, which stars Collins as Hepburn, will instead focus on the troubled making of the film, which included Truman Capote’s disappointment with Audrey Hepburn playing the role, which he had wanted Marilyn Monroe to star in instead.

Behind the scenes of the film, Alena Smith, creator of Dickinson, is penning the script. As of now, no director has been announced to helm the film. Collins will also be producing the film through Case Study Films in association with Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer.

However, the announcement of the film has also sparked an old debate online. While some believe Collins has always been the embodiment of Hepburn’s style and therefore deserves to play the role, others believe the actress might follow in the footsteps of Rooney Mara and pop star Ariana Grande.

Since the film is about the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, several bigwigs of Hollywood will feature in the film in supporting roles. These actors are Blake Edwards, who directed Breakfast at Tiffany’s; Edith Head, who designed the iconic costumes for the film; co-star of Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, George Peppard; and Capote himself.

As of now, the film is in pre-production. However, it is clear that after years of “Hepburn cosplay” jokes online, Collins is indeed playing the role, and Hollywood is going to revisit the birth of the modern-day movie star.
