Avengers: Doomsday is going to be a nostalgic ride for all Marvel fans out there. The movie features some of the most iconic superheroes from the MCU, including Steve Rogers, but here’s the thing. The Directors had an interesting reason behind bringing back Chris Evans’ character.

The real reason why Steve Rogers came back in Doomsday

Steve Rogers, like most Marvel superheroes, will be featured in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. Joe Russo, the director behind the movie, spoke to Fandango about why they brought back Captain America, saying:

“That was a character that we spent a lot of time with over the years… It felt to us like the correct way for us to come back would be to continue the story of that character, to work with Robert again, and to move the story forward. And that was really the thing that I think excited all of us was we found a path forward that really was integral, really required both Chris and Robert for the story to be told.”

Both Captain America and Iron Man are some of the most legendary characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They share similarities in their goals and agenda, albeit with their clashing personalities.

Steve Rogers, needless to say, is the first Avenger who lives up to the title. He paved the way for future superhero acting as the core of the group, mainly as a leader, advisor, and military strategist.

Not to mention, Rogers is one of the most cult popular characters in the Marvel Universe. The comics also stood out as a bestseller, but mostly, he is the OG hero when you come to think of it.

It is interesting how his story starts with conforming to a system, but he ends up blatantly fighting against the corruption and immoral frameworks. With time, his formation of the Avengers united several superheroes who fight for the same cause.

Although he and Tony Stark differ in terms of their background, they actively work to protect citizens and their loved ones from impending doom. It only makes sense to bring Rogers into this timeline and story, as some suggest.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on 18th December 2026.
