Her last notable work was her reality TV show Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, a competition series focused on finding plus-size dancers for her tour. Although Lizzo hasn’t been very active in the music scene, she has publicly voiced her admiration for Justin Bieber’s latest Coachella set.
Lizzo says she was “fully present” during Bieber’s performance
Justin Bieber’s musical performance at Coachella has divided opinions. While some praised the show for its spiritual themes and reflections on his personal growth, with visual throwbacks and emotional pacing, others criticized it for being allegedly underwhelming or low-energy, lacking spectacular choreographic set pieces.
Nevertheless, Lizzo falls into the category of people who liked the performance and stated that she saw him “fully transcend into his artistry” in her Instagram post.
“I watched a popstar who grew up in front of the world fully transcend into his artistry last night. I watched someone who gave us his all, his whole life… finally nourish himself,” she wrote.
The artist further stated that she took no pictures or videos of his Coachella set because she was fully immersed in the moment. “I have no pictures or videos because I was fully present in the moment. Justin invited us, and whoever chose to come with him was blessed with a beautiful ride,” she further wrote.
She also subtly acknowledged Bieber’s spiritual growth, stating that the performance wouldn’t please everyone in the audience, but he did right by God.
“When you use your gift for God, it will make people uncomfortable. But that’s OK because the ones who stick beside you will feel the love. Thank you,” she stated in conclusion.
Bieber’s performance wasn’t a crowd-hyping festival set, but his core fans still appreciated the vulnerability and evolution he displayed. This was one of his biggest live performances in years, coming from a break caused by health struggles. It marked a significant return that highlighted his artistic growth.
