The 2026 Met Gala had some of the most stunning looks, while others were downright quirky and offbeat. This is the case with Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, who sported a unique ensemble, and this is how Kevin Hart reacted to the whole thing.
Kevin Hart’s response to Dwayne Johnson’s Met Gala attire
When asked by ExtraTV if Rock would wear the same kilt on Kevin Hart’s roast on Sunday, the comedian said, “he did look like a f— idiot at the Met Gala. No I’m joking. Uh, Big fella, I love the risk that you took, man. I loved to see you in that space in the first Met Gala. You know I’m a champion, you’re you know what, my brother.“
To give context, The Rock donned a Samoan ensemble, especially wearing a classic black lavalava with a Thom Brown mohair black tailcoat to pair with it.
It is a tradition for most Samoan men to wear the lavalavas in their culture, as he explained while he was at the Met Gala. He also paired it with a white shirt with a cravat that made the ensemble exude an aura of royalty and elegance.
To complete the look, he added a diamond and emerald brooch by Manish Malhotra, which gave it a more bedazzled flair. So, where does Kevin Hart come into the picture? Well, both Hart and Johnson have been close friends since their first film, Central Intelligence, which was released in 2016.
The duo have starred together in the Jumanji franchise and also appeared in DC League of Super Pets and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
When asked by Extra TV if Rock will attend the roast on Sunday and roast Hart, he said he doesn’t know. He also added that only he gets to call The Rock an idiot since he’s his brother, and he joked about the entire response.
Both Hart and Johnson will reprise their roles in Jumanji: Open World, which will release in December 2026. As of now, Hart is all geared up for his show, The Roast of Kevin Hart, which will premiere on Netflix on May 10.
