Kathryn Newton confirms Avengers Doomsday casting through director’s chair reveal

Kathryn Newton, who played Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), has confirmed she will return in Avengers: Doomsday. In a series of posts on social media, she showcased that she is actively filming for the movie. In one of her stories, she is shown opening up a package to reveal a director’s chair with her name written on the back of it and the Avengers Doomsday logo on the front.

She jokingly noted the chair’s size, stating, “It’s tiny because Cassie Lang gets tiny,” referencing her character’s shrinking abilities.

In another story she shared on X, she showed her team doing her hair and makeup while she was holding the tiny director’s chair. An additional video shared on social media showed her taking candy assembled on the tiny director’s chair on Avengers: Doomsday sets, and ends up taking the chair itself with her name written on the back of it. Thereafter, she went on to reveal a human-sized chair with her name on it, which confirms that she will be in the big-budget spectacle film.

Reports also note she was briefly seen in early footage shown at CinemaCon. In Quantumania, she played a techie, capable of interacting with the quantum realm. She is Ant-Man’s daughter and wears a suit that allows her to reduce herself to minuscule proportions and grow larger when needed.

The story revolves around multiple universes colliding, with the massive crossover event bringing together the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. She joins an ensemble that features Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Joseph Quinn, Danny Ramirez, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Channing Tatum, among many others.
