Marvel Studios plans to rewrite its history. Joe Russo, the director of the movie in question, stated at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland on April 19, 2026, that the film would be remade with additional scenes that would seamlessly transition into Avengers: Doomsday. It is part of the Infinity Saga’s last film, set to premiere on September 25, 2026, before Doomsday on December 18.

Doctor Doom’s story will be featured in the additional footage

According to the information provided, the new scenes would be related to Doctor Doom’s story. This was done to “create a bridge between the Infinity Saga and the upcoming projects.” Evidently, Marvel wants to build up Doctor Doom to be the antagonist succeeding Thanos.

Furthermore, Avengers: Endgame would get a re-release using the Infinity Vision technology. Created by Disney as a competitor to IMAX, this premium experience offers high brightness and another way of viewing movies. One can see that the company values the re-release greatly based on the chosen technical decisions alone.

Re-release of Avengers: Endgame will allow for Robert Downey Jr. to return. Indeed, as reported by Joe Russo, the actor discussed his possible participation in the new movie two-and-a-half years ago. As he said, his character would be “the ultimate villain” now, coming after his role as “the ultimate hero,” Tony Stark. Clearly, his next character will be Doctor Doom.

The footage revealed at CinemaCon on April 16 confirmed this assumption. In one of the scenes, Doctor Doom prepares to conquer several universes while wearing a mask. Meanwhile, Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, threatens him to leave people in peace. Finally, Chris Evans plays the scene when he lifts the hammer again, defying the established timeline in previous movies.

Thus, Avengers: Endgame’s additional footage should clarify how the new teams fit into the timeline of the world.
