The award-winning, beloved superhero series on Amazon Prime Video, The Boys, premiered on April 8, 2026. This is the fifth and final season, and anticipation is high for how the showdown between The Boys and Homelander will turn out. In a recent interview, Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, gave fans a sense of what his character will be like throughout the final season.
Soldier Boy has some “salty” lines in Season 5, says Jensen Ackles
In an interview with ScreenRant, Ackles stated that fans are going to get a “little different” version of Soldier Boy this season. The character is crude, politically incorrect, and brutally honest, and the latest season seems to tap into these traits more.
“It is a little different, Soldier Boy, that we’ll get in the past. Because we see kind of where he became and how he became what we know of him today. So, there was a little bit of bittersweetness to season five, with The Boys wrapping up,” the actor said.
“It’s the version of the Soldier Boy I know the most,” he further added. The Supernatural actor further explained that the character he plays is complex and that writer Eric Kripke does a good job of unlayering these complexities through his storytelling.
The Supernatural actor continued that Soldier Boy this season would be quite similar to what he was in the third season. “It’s a lot in our face. And my god, there’s a lot of lines that I can’t believe came out of my mouth, but Kripke writes the s—, and I say it, and that’s just how it has been for a long, long time.”
“There’s some salty, salty lines,” he further teased. However, the final season of The Boys doesn’t mean the end of the road for Jensen Ackles’ character. He is also set to reprise his role in a prequel series in The Boys universe titled Vought Rising, which will explore the origins of Vought in the 1950s, along with Soldier Boy’s early years and Stormfront’s rise.
Season 5 picks up in the aftermath of Season 4, with Homelander consolidating greater political and public influence, pushing Starlight to organize a resistance against him. As The Boys team finds itself fractured, Billy Butcher resurfaces with a strategy centered on using a virus designed to wipe out all Supes.
