The Vought Cinematic Universe (VCU) faced a setback as The Boys spinoff Gen V was scrapped following its second season. The decision came approximately six months after the second season ended. Now, in a recent statement, Gen V star Jaz Sinclair opened up about how she felt following the show’s cancellation.
Jaz Sinclair grateful for experience on Gen V
Jaz Sinclair played Marie Moreau, a blood-manipulating Supe in the superhero drama set in the same universe as The Boys. However, the show’s executive producers, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, recently confirmed that the series will not be renewed for a third season, although some characters are expected to appear in The Boys Season 5 and other planned VCU projects.
That said, following the end of the show, Sinclair expressed gratitude for the “incredible experience,” adding that she will share more about the cancellation at a later date.
“There’s so much I wanna (and will) say, but for today I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m so happy you’re here, and I’m so grateful for this incredible experience,” she said.
The show follows young Supes in training at Godolkin University, run by Vought International, as students compete for rankings, fame, and future superhero contracts. The Gen V Season 2 finale acts as a narrative bridge to The Boys Season 5, with the university’s lead characters drawn into the resistance by Annie January, joining the fight against Homelander’s increasingly authoritarian grip on power.
Following the events of the Gen V Season 2 finale, Marie and her friends are recruited, suggesting her character arc will likely continue in The Boys’ final season. Whether she will appear in future VCU projects remains uncertain.
“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again,” a statement from the executive producers read.
No official reason has been given for the show’s cancellation, but media reports suggest the second season did not perform as strongly as anticipated in terms of viewership, while several cast members are reportedly moving on to other major projects.
