Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is out, and people can’t keep calm about it. Protagonists from street-level Marvel stories like The Punisher appear to be part of the new Spider-Man movie, adding to the excitement around the film. However, as per fan speculation, Daredevil did not feature in the trailer. Recently, Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil in the MCU, revealed whether this is part of Marvel’s larger strategy to keep his cameo a secret.

Is Daredevil in the new Spider-Man movie, or is he not?

In a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Daredevil actor reaffirmed that he won’t be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day but also kept it cryptic, highlighting the fact that the MCU often keeps significant cameos under wraps if they are pivotal to the plot of the movie.

“If I was in the movie, I would also say no, to be clear, but I’m not in the movie… I could be lying, but I’m not,” Cox stated on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Across multiple interviews since the filming process of the movie began, Cox has consistently denied his involvement in the film.

Rumors were circulating on the internet that Charlie Cox was filming in London around the same time Spider-Man: Brand New Day was being filmed, and fans put two and two together to assume that Daredevil might just be in the movie.

“Fans think I’m in Spider-Man because I’m filming in London—which I’m not,” Cox had stated earlier during a New York Comic Con interview last year.

However, Cox’s comments on the Kimmel interview still don’t completely shut down the rumors, as denial could also be part of Marvel’s strategy to build hype if the character does appear. For now, no credible reports have confirmed his involvement.

The new Spider-Man trailer appears to pick up from where Spider-Man: No Way Home ended, with Peter Parker reeling from the aftereffects of Doctor Strange’s spell, where everybody has forgotten he exists. He has to start from scratch, with scenes showing him trying to reconnect with MJ and Ned.

Hulk (Bruce Banner) is also shown in the trailer, seemingly acting as a scientific advisor to Peter, who appears to be undergoing a “mutation.”

The look and feel of the trailer give the impression that Spider-Man will be reinforcing his image as a friendly neighborhood hero, fighting street-level villains and vigilantes like The Punisher and Scorpion, while undergoing a “mutation” that seems to be affecting his powers.
