Avengers: Doomsday is releasing this year, and it’s got everyone speculating and theorizing about several things. One of them is whether Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine, and here’s what the actor had to say about that!
Hugh Jackman addresses his return in Avengers: Doomsday
Hugh Jackman was recently interviewed by Adam Lupis, who asked him if he’s returning for his role in Avengers: Doomsday, to which the actor said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. What is it? Dooms what? Who knows?”
Jackman’s response had many fans speculating that he might be keeping his role under wraps or that he might not want to disclose his role in the movie.
As of yet, there has been no official confirmation, but rumors, and it was these rumors that led most fans to believe that the actor might reprise his role. Jackman last appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, which was released in 2024. He reprised his role alongside Ryan Reynolds.
The rumors also started after Daniel RPK hinted at Reynolds’ return to the upcoming Doomsday movie. It will feature a cast from the X-Men, notably Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr.
Doomsday will also feature James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn, who will play their roles of Cyclops, Beast, Nightcrawler, and Mystique, respectively.
The OG cast is surely returning, with the exception of Jackman, who is hinted to return, and people are still rooting for him to appear in a cameo.
Earlier, James Marsden also hinted at the actor’s absence in an interview with Comic Book, saying, “I love Hugh Jackman, and I love the dynamic between Wolverine and Cyclops. ”I wouldn’t say that I was excited to slide into that role without him barking in my ear. He was missed. I’m trying to… answer, without saying too much… Yeah, that’s my answer.”
This also led to fans wondering if Jackman is indeed prepping for another Avengers movie. Some even went ahead and theorized that the actor might reprise his role in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is slated for release in 2027.
