From Hitman and Twisters to Hidden Figures and Top Gun: Maverick, Glen Powell has worked on a diverse set of roles. He has a fascinating roster of filmography as an actor, and apparently, he’s shooting for the stars. The actor pitched himself for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and here’s what we know so far.
Glen Powell expresses interest in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie producers, Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto, recently did an interview with Forbes. They opened up about their movie, the creative process, and everything in between.
The showrunners spoke about how Powell approached them and pitched himself for the role of Fox McCloud. “After the first movie was done, there were two phone calls that came from actors expressing incredible conviction and passion about being involved with Nintendo, and one of them was from Glen Powell.”
Glen Powell voices Fox McCloud in The Super Mario Galaxy movie. McCloud is the protagonist in the Star Fox series, created by Nintendo. The character also appears in Super Smash Bros as of now.
He’s also a calm, collected, thoughtful, mindful, yet stoic and mature leader who is a rather responsible member. Powell brings out those details and nitty-gritty through his voice acting and passion, which is exactly what the showrunners noticed, especially Meledandri.
The actor previously did an interview with IGN in 2025, where he was asked if he plays any games, to which he responded, “Yes. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33“You know, it’s one that I’ve become a fan of. And uhm, if there’s an Expedition 33 movie, I’d be very interested.
This also explains why he’s so passionate about his role in the Mario movie. Some fans have even speculated that he is a hardcore gamer, especially after his enthusiasm regarding Clair Obscur. The actor does seem passionate about the Starfox franchise, and quite honestly, his cold calling paid off well.
Other than The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Powell previously voiced Dave in the animated series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous.
