Lena Dunham has just released her new memoir, Famesick, in which she made some explosive allegations against her co-star, Adam Driver. The actor himself has not yet commented on her version of events. On the other hand, Girls star Allison Williams refused to weigh in on the drama, claiming that she hadn’t reached the portion of the book discussing the off-screen relationship between them.

Allison Williams hasn’t yet reached the Dunham-Driver controversy in the memoir

Allison Williams played Marnie Michaels in the HBO series, the best friend of Lena Dunham’s character, Hannah Horvath, at the start of the show. During a red carpet Variety interview, Williams stated that she did not have similar experiences to Dunham while working with the Marriage Story star on set. She also revealed that she has only read up to the “Girls” table read section of the pilot episode and would prefer not to comment on the allegations before finishing the book.

I just got to the table read of the pilot in the book… no, I need to read it before I say anything about it,” Williams stated. Furthermore, she went on to say that she is on good terms with Dunham. “We love each other. We share a lifelong bond,” she added.

Driver allegedly had volatile on-set behavior during Girls, with Dunham recounting incidents of him throwing a chair, screaming in her face, and punching a hole in his trailer wall. While working with Driver, she justified his aggressive behavior at the time, believing it aligned with the creative direction of the show.

It must be noted that at no point did Dunham villainize Driver, but instead attempted to depict a complicated working relationship. In the memoir, she also mentioned that there were times she felt their dynamic might be crossing professional boundaries, and she was conscious of not letting it reach a point where things could become awkward.

She also wrote that she had “spent an inordinate amount of time wondering” whether Driver liked her and claimed she was “heartbroken” after learning he was engaged.
