Stranger Things wrapped up its final season last year in November. It was ever since then that fans have been speculating on spin-offs and reboots. Here’s what Gaten Matarazzo had to say regarding the matter, so let’s dive right into it!
Gaten Matarazzo addresses Stranger Things’ spin-off
Gaten Matarazzo, who played Dustin Henderson in the Duffer Brothers’ Stranger Things, recently spoke to Good Morning America. When asked if he’s looking forward to any reboots or future projects within the franchise, he said:
“I have NO DOUBT that Matt and Ross Duffer intend to REBOOT it in the future. I mean, I’m pretty sure the Stranger Things Instagram post with Millie and Finn got over 4 million likes or something, so it’s pretty clear fans want the main couple of the show to reunite someday.”
As of late, there’s Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85, which is releasing this April on Netflix. The animated series has an interesting voice cast with Odessa A’zion, Jeremy Jordan, and several other seasoned voice actors. Eric Robles is the showrunner who is at the helm of this series.
There have been several reports, speculations, and theories regarding a possible spinoff. The Duffer Brothers, earlier, spoke to Deadline about working on the idea of a reboot and that only Finn Wolfhard got the hang of it.
Though they also kept the information under wraps, no matter how excited they were about the project. Matt Duffer gave in and shared the tidbits about the spinoff that they’re working on.
I want, if something’s coming out with a Stranger Things title on it, it’s good; it’s quality. So Ross and I are going to remain very, very involved, even though we’re going to be at Paramount. In fact, we’re busy working on the spinoff idea right now.”
As for the animated series, while it is being helmed by Eric Robles, the Duffer Brothers are surely supervising it. The story is set within the timeline between Stranger Things’ second and third seasons. The gang fights the monsters from Upside Down that have made their way into the town.
Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85 is slated for release on 23rd April 2026 on Netflix.
