Award-winning independent game Atomfall will finally make its way to television screens, with Rebellion partnering with Two Brothers Pictures for an upcoming series. Following its massive success upon the March 2025 release, reaching more than 3.7 million players worldwide and winning Best British Game at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards in April, the UK-developed franchise is ready to expand beyond gaming.
Original creators of Atomfall bring it to TV
Harry and Jack Williams – creators behind the series, including Fleabag, The Tourist, and Baptiste—will be working on the Atomfall adaptation themselves, leading the writing process together. Joining them on the show will be executive producer Alex Mercer, while Rebellion’s CEO Jason Kingsley, Chairman Chris Kingsley, and COO Ben Smith will produce it from the studio’s side.
The story takes place inside a military quarantine area in the Lake District of England, inspired by the 1957 nuclear accident at the Windscale plant. Combining elements of science fiction, folk horror, and Cold War, the tale describes the life of humanity trapped within the area with a world split between warring factions, where secrecy, alliances, and fallout define your survival inside the zone.
The central character is the one whose life began with amnesia about how they got there. As the story goes on, you will be trying to learn everything about yourself and navigate through the different people in the zone while facing other dangers.
According to Harry and Jack Williams, the collaboration was easy, as they both feel strongly connected to the game. “Atomfall has such a distinctive British tone and setting, and it’s been a real joy developing it alongside the Rebellion team,” they explained. The unusual collaboration between two pairs of brothers made the whole process extremely exciting for the Williamses.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Two Brothers to bring the world of Atomfall to television. Harry and Jack demonstrated a clear love for Atomfall and talked about their own particular endings when they were playing the game,” Jason and Chris Kingsley noted. The project promises to develop further the universe and mythos of Atomfall with a series of events unseen before.
