The Boys Season 5 is almost here, and it is gaining traction among early viewers. It is the final season that can either make it or break it, and so far, everything looks promising. Here are some first impressions regarding this season that has everyone guessing what’s to come.
The Boys’ Season 5 garners promising reviews
So far, The Boys has received a score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, along with 26 early reviewers. This also ties in well with the individual reviews as well as the reviews carried out by various media outlets.
Alison Herman from Variety gave her honest review of the season, saying, “The Boys” nonetheless confronts bigger problems than one humble action comedy can solve.
Jesse Scheden from IGN gave it a solid 7.5 out of 10 rating and commented on the snail-paced plot, which changed in the episodes to come. It starts off slow but picks up pace gradually. “There are many great character moments to dig into over the course of the first seven episodes of Season 5. However, the show is hardly flawless as it makes its long-awaited return.”
Ernesto Valenzuela from Discussing Films also gave it a rating of 4 stars out of 5. His review largely focused on the main themes in the series that find their continuity till the final season. Across five seasons, Eric Kripke and his team have consistently adapted to the shifting cultural landscape, ensuring that the series remains as relevant as ever.
Aside from media outlets’ and critics’ reviews, the ratings and first impressions look favorable to most netizens. They’re all prepped up to witness the macabre, the gore, the epic face-offs, fights, and moments of togetherness that the finale has to offer.
After all, Antony Starr did say that the finale won’t skimp on the gnarly and disturbing elements and themes, or rather, the carnage that the show has to offer.
Overall, Season 5 was an amalgamation of carnage, gore, and profanity, but it’s not boiled down to simply that. The final season gives us a promising showdown between characters and offers a satisfying conclusion to the momentum that was built up over 4 seasons.
The Boys Season 5 will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime from 8th April.
