The Boys is on its final run with Season 5, but that’s not the end of it all. They say the show must go on, and that’s exactly what Eric Kripke is prepping up for, especially with his latest update on The Boys: Mexico. Here’s what we know so far!
Eric Kripke shares update on The Boys: Mexico
When asked by Entertainment Weekly about the status of The Boys: Mexico, Kripke confirmed the update on the series’ progress, saying:
Yeah. They just delivered a draft of the pilot to Amazon. Amazon seemed to really like it and seemed to be making all the right noises. They gave some notes, so we’re gonna incorporate those notes.
It is important to note that The Boys: Mexico explores the aftermath of the events happening after Season 5 of The Boys. There’s also a prequel coming up, which is titled Vought Rising.
Vought Rising will be set in the 1950s and will focus entirely on the origins, background, and history of the notorious company Vought. It would map the beginning of an era of superheroes while also underlining the ever-present corruption and rise of villainy.
As for The Boys: Mexico, the series will be produced by Gareth Dunnet Alcocer. He previously wrote the screenplay for the 2023 film Blue Beetle, based on the DC comic character of the same name. It starred Xolo Mariduena and Adriana Barraza in central roles.
As reported by Deadline, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna are the acting executive producers who might make cameo appearances in the TV series. There hasn’t been any official announcement as of yet when it comes to the casting.
There have been various speculations regarding the series’ plot, but we know one thing for sure: the story won’t be a rendition of The Boys. It will take a common thread and explore those themes. However, any logline regarding the show has not been officially discussed as of yet.
So far, Amazon has greenlit the idea, and some sources suggest that the producers and showrunners are eyeing a 2027 release. It has not been disclosed, so all we have to do is wait for yet another update!
