Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci were honored with a rare joint star ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The event was packed with Hollywood A-listers such as Meryl Streep, Dwayne Johnson, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr. In his speech to Blunt, Johnson made a cheeky joke about her choice of drink.
Johnson quips about Blunt being a great drinking partner
The ceremony also doubled as a promotion for Blunt’s upcoming film The Devil Wears Prada 2. Johnson delivered one of the most entertaining speeches of the event, starting off by joking that if there was one word that would define Emily Blunt, it would be tequila.
“Let me just say one word that epitomizes Emily: tequila… kidding! Even though she’s a hell of a drinking partner,” Johnson said.
He also praised Blunt’s personality, calling her someone who is appreciative of every moment of her life. “Every single day, knowing Emily, as many of us do, that is one grateful woman who will wake up, feet on the ground, being grateful about every moment,” he said.
“I feel like when you’re grateful about every moment, that then leads to the thing I think we all look for, which is joy and peace of mind,” he further added.
The tone was clearly playful and complimentary, highlighting his off-screen friendship with Blunt. Notably, Johnson and Blunt have worked together on two major film projects: Jungle Cruise and The Smashing Machine.
Furthermore, Oppenheimer co-star Damon also praised Tucci and Blunt at the event. “I just can’t think of two people more deserving to be added to this cultural landmark, to be giving young artists hope,” he said, adding, “you guys have just been doing consistently stellar work for decades, and it is such a joy to watch you guys. But beyond that, you’re two of my favorite humans that I’ve ever met on this planet.”
After speeches from Robert Downey Jr. and Meryl Streep, the actress, along with Tucci, expressed their gratitude for all the warm remarks from their peers. In summary, the event was a star-powered celebration, with Johnson adding fun energy through his light and unscripted humor.
