Martha Stewart is a seasoned chef known for her immaculate cake recipes. She shaped the culinary world through her contributions, but that’s not all. Seems like she is about to get a tribute in the form of a biopic, and Cate Blanchett is all set to play the lead role. Here’s what we know so far!
Cate Blanchett bags lead role in Martha Stewart biopic
As reported by Variety, Cate Blanchett is all prepped to play Martha Stewart in the upcoming biopic. It will be directed by Janicza Bravo, the director behind Lemon, Gregory Go Boom, and Zola.
Blanchett’s casting for the lead role is spot-on, and many netizens are in favor of this. This is also because the actress outdid herself in her past performances when we think about biopics.
She previously played the role of Hollywood starlet Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese’s 2004 film The Aviator. It is one of the most critically acclaimed movies and an iconic one, at best.
The actress also did a marvelous job portraying Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth, directed by Shekhar Kapur, but here’s the thing. Be it comedy, romance, drama, crime, or thriller, Blanchett has time and time again exhibited her multifacetedness as an actress.
As for the upcoming biopic, it is titled Good Thing, and it’s quite interesting. This is because it’s derived from Martha Stewart’s catchline, “It’s a good thing.”
Stewart also praised the actress when she received the news of the biopic. Her journey as a chef is quite fascinating as she meandered through her career path. She started as a model to pay for her college fees and tuition.
Then, she briefly worked in stockbroking spaces and eventually transitioned into the chef role. She started her catering business in her basement, as reported by many media outlets.
Her big break came when she started publishing her cookery books in the 90s. She appeared in various shows, and her most notable appearance was in 2 Broke Girls, where she featured in a cameo role alongside Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs for one episode.
Good Things’ release date hasn’t been confirmed as of yet.
