After almost four years, BTS is back with a bang. Their new album has all K-pop stans revved up and thrilled for the most part. They’re looking forward to the tour, but the recent update is rather concerning. RM, their lead member, has suffered an ankle injury, and here’s what went down.
BTS’s RM suffers ankle injury before Arirang concert
BTS member RM, also known as Kim Namjoon, suffered an ankle injury during the performance rehearsal on the 19th March. The group was prepping for their Arirang concert when this incident occurred.
A statement released by the BTS team spoke about the update, saying, “A medical diagnosis confirmed a sprain of the accessory navicular, a partial ligament tear, and a talus contusion (which includes ligament damage and inflammation). As advised by medical professionals, he must wear a cast and strictly limit movement for a minimum of two weeks to concentrate solely on his recovery.”
This suggests that RM would be allowed to perform on the stage. His movements, on the other hand, will be strictly monitored and maneuvered according to his current health status.
The statement was shared by BigHit studios on the WeVerse platform. RM has previously stated in interviews that he suffered from immense mental pressure and insomnia due to the rising global popularity. It inadvertently affected his health, but with this incident, netizens poured out heartfelt messages cheering him on.
BTS’s management agency is also currently prioritizing the singer’s medical condition as of late. There’s immense pressure on the group’s global popularity and acclaim, and RM himself has promised his fans that the group will make a comeback.
This was back in 2023 when he livestreamed on WeVerse and said that the group would return in 2025. The Arirang album is, in fact, a big deal because the group reunited after a four-year hiatus.
As of now, the group will perform at Gwanghwamun for their Arirang concert. Their Netflix documentary is all set to release on March 27th and will feature the behind-the-scenes process of their latest album.
