Bridgerton star Florence Hunt to lead new survival drama Bare

Bridgerton fame Florence Hunt leads the gripping new survival television show Bare, directed by Lorna Tucker.

British actress Florence Hunt, who’s popular for projects such as Bridgerton and Queen at Sea, will soon be charting unfamiliar territory. She’s taking on the lead role in the upcoming survival drama Bare, based on director Lorna Tucker’s titular memoir. The feature film marks a career shift for Hunt, who’s still remembered fondly for her role as Hyacinth Bridegerton in the Netflix drama. So, what can we expect this time?

Florence Hunt joins Bare to bring Tucker’s lived experiences to life

Described as a “visceral” coming-of-age survival saga set in London, the movie follows a young girl, Sophie (Florence Hunt). After abandoning her home, she finally finds her own tribe in the face of perils and re-discovers herself. The filming is currently underway in London. Meanwhile, its storyline is inspired by Tucker’s own journey, with producers describing it as a “raw yet hopeful portrait of resilience, belonging, and the power of human connection.

Gillian Berrie, Savannah Power, Marcus Warren, and Christian Moore are producing the project under the Consortium Pictures label. Des Hamilton has handled the movie’s casting, and the group includes Isla Fisher and Oscar-winning Colin Firth in major roles. Among the additional cast are Sky Frances, Ruaridh Mollica, Séamus McLean Ross, Mirren Mack, Lewis Gribben, Tut Nyuot, Clay Russell, Umi Myers, and Shane Walker.

And guess what? Musician and DJ Fatboy Slim is also set to make a cameo appearance. Additionally, Bare is the first feature film by The Consortium Pictures, which is both funding and creating the project. It also marks the feature directorial debut of Tucker, known for her BAFTA-nominated documentaries Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist and Someone’s Daughter, Someone’s Son. The latter sheds light on the situation of homelessness in the UK.

And this time, Tucker is highlighting the struggles of reclaiming one’s identity in the fast-changing, dark world. “Bare is a deeply personal story about survival, connection, and finding light in the darkest places,” Tucker said. “It’s about being seen, the people we lose, and the ones who save us. A coming of age for the misunderstood, the unloved, and those who slip through the cracks of society.”

Tucker has joined forces with Under One Sky and The Connection at St. Martin’s for this project. Both organizations work on the ground level to support people without roofs over their heads. Currently, the movie gears up to attract international distributors at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Would you like to watch Florence Hunt in a whole new light?
