After a massive leak that occurred on April 12, 2026, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will now be under more pressure to become available to watch in theaters. According to some information, due to the leaking of the movie, the original cast voiced their disappointment to Paramount because of the studio’s plan to make the feature first available only via streaming services.
Leaked ‘Avatar’ stars want theatrical release as movie attracts millions of views
While the original voice cast attended Supanova Melbourne on April 19, they discussed the leak problem. The event brought together some well-known voice actors, such as Zach Tyler Eisen, Jack De Sena, Michaela Jill Murphy, and Olivia Hack. Hack was the main representative of those who suggested the move into theaters. Thus, she mentioned, “I’ve skimmed it. The art looks beautiful… Paramount has my nickel. I already subscribed. Release it in theaters. That’s what I’m saying. It’s really spectacular. The artwork is gorgeous.”
As per their claims, the leak shows how much fans wanted to see it since, as they say, the film reached 10 million views in 48 hours. Moreover, the movie’s leak could harm its potential success due to the restrictions of a streaming platform debut. Currently, Paramount has sent out mass takedown requests, but it can still be found on piracy websites.
In addition, animators shared their feelings about the leak and how disrespectful it is to their years of hard work on the hybrid 2D and 3D animation style. Directed by Lauren Montgomery, the plot of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender covers the adult life of the initial characters and moves towards The Legend of Korra.
The voice cast of the film includes Eric Nam, Steven Yeun, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and Dave Bautista. Nevertheless, the release strategy hasn’t been changed.
