Agatha All Along is that one MCU series that stands underappreciated for the most part. What stood out was a stellar cast, especially Aubrey Plaza, whose performance as Lady Death was a showstopper. The actress isn’t letting go of her love for the character, and this is what she had to say about her return to the MCU.
Aubrey Plaza pitches her Lady Death project for MCU
When asked by the Television Academy if she’s returning to the MCU anytime soon, Aubrey Plaza did hint at her coming back to the franchise. She also pitched her vision for Lady Death, saying:
I am absolutely up for it. I’m deeply manifesting a Lady Death project in the MCU. I’m doing all the spells I can to make that happen, because I think the character has so much potential. If you look up her origin in the comics, she’s got a love triangle with Thanos and Deadpool, and she doesn’t die. What’s more fun than that?
Plaza played Rio Vidal in Jac Schaeffer’s mini-series Agatha All Along. Vidal is the vessel for the goddess Lady Death, who happens to be one of the crucial characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Vidal is Agatha’s lover, and they share a complex relationship. It was later revealed that the character is the vessel, but most importantly, the personification of Death itself.
As Death, Vidal has unparalleled power, and she is nearly indestructible, as she can manipulate time, darkness, and most importantly, necromancy. She can unalive and resurrect any individual through her potent powers.
Her character does go on a rampage and ends an entire coven. This is in order to maintain the equilibrium of life and death. It is Vidal’s way of ensuring balance sustains and thrives when it comes to her duty as Death.
In Agatha All Along, the series concluded with Vidal accepting Agatha’s sacrifice, where she then spares the latter’s son and instead takes Agatha’s soul. She carries on her purpose to fulfill her duty as a Death Goddess.
There hasn’t been any confirmation or official report regarding a Death Lady project in the works, though it would be fascinating to see Plaza reprise her role in the series if it ever were to happen!
