Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt recall funny lines in The Devil Wears Prada

Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt did an Actors on Actors interview with Variety sometime back. They shared heartrending moments from the sets of The Devil Wears Prada

The entire conversation was a sneak peek into what went on behind the scenes of the movie. Blunt confessed she felt so bad being mean to Hathaway’s character while they were filming.

They also spoke about the infamous “hideous skirt convention” dialogue that remains iconic to this date. Hathaway, who played Andy Sachs, also revealed how Blunt had the most amount of fun, saying, “If you’ve never seen ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ blooper reel. – Oh, you’ve got too. – I highly recommend it because this one [points to Emily Blunt] is charm. I mean, just you look like you’re having more fun than anyone has ever had on any set. – I did. – And I can vouch for you. You were. – I cried with laughter. I had so much fun. – And you were.

For the uninformed, the lines were improvised, and there were some hilarious moments on the set. One such case was the line where Emily tells Andy to shush while she’s slouching on the desk.

“Yeah, I’m hearing this, and I want to hear this,” was something Blunt picked up when she saw a mother interacting with her child. The mother got so frustrated with her child and did that gesture. That was something that was added to the script.

Both actresses also discussed Meryl Streep’s lines, one in particular, especially the one where she tells Andy to move at a glacial pace. They also poked fun at the 2024 SAG Awards, where they quoted Miranda Priestly’s lines, leaving the audience in stitches.

The trio is now reprising their roles in Devil Wears Prada 2, which is available in theaters near you!
