Scary Movie stands iconic for parodying some of the most legendary horror movies, and here’s the thing. The creators are all set for the 6th installment, which is releasing this year, and Anna Faris also shared her views on the upcoming movie.
Anna Faris on fans’ excitement over Scary Movie 6
Anna Faris recently spoke to Variety about Scary Movie 6 and how it all came to fruition. She shed light on the fact that Marlon Wayans initiated a reunion and that he “wanted the gang back.” It was after the reunion that they decided they would work on the 6th movie.
Faris was all enthusiastic and excited when she spoke about how grateful she truly was, “It was so pivotal as opposed to remembering how terrified I was back in those early days. It has been incredible for me. I don’t know too many people who get to have this life experience where it’s this kind of beautiful reunion. The fact that the audience seems hungry for it, it’s thrilling. I did not imagine this for myself.“
The actress is all prepped to reprise her role as Cindy Campbell. Her character parodies Sidney Preston from the Scream franchise in the best way possible. The best part about the movies in the Scary Movie franchise is how they reduce Ghostface and other sinister villains into a complete caricature.
Cindy is accompanied by Brenda Meeks, played by Regina Hall, throughout the movies. While one would expect jumpscares from a horror movie, the scenes have the audience in stitches for all the right reasons.
Marlon Wayans appeared as Shorty Meeks in the first two movies and also co-wrote the movie with his brother Keenan-Ivory Wayans. Both brothers are known for their legendary roles in the celebrated comedy film White Chicks. It’s become a pop cultural phenomenon, and Faris even thanked Keenan Ivory in the interview.
“For this to happen in this way has been euphoric for me. I’ve been so sentimental. I feel like I’m finally in a place where I could really thank them, where I could tell Keenan, “You’ve changed my life.”
Scary Movie 6 is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.
