Distribution companies compete for Michael B. Jordan’s Battlefield

As reported by TheWrap on X, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, and Universal are the 5 companies that made their bids for this movie.

To give context, recently, Deadline confirmed that both Jordan and Christopher McQuarrie are co-producing the Battlefield movie. It is loosely inspired by the video games produced by Swedish game development company DICE.

The Battlefield game explores real-life events in a futuristic world. It heavily involves military, politics, and battle strategy that users partake in. The story is all about survival and stakes, and it is undoubtedly one of the bestselling games in the US.

McQuarrie has worked on several notable films as a producer and director, especially The Usual Suspects, The Mummy, Top Gun: Maverick, The Way of the Gun, and so on. He also produced TV shows like Persons Unknown and Reacher

As for Jordan, he recently won an Oscar for his legendary role in Ryan Coogler’s film The Sinners. Jordan also did voice acting for several video games, such as Wilson’s Heart, Creed: Rise to Glory, and so on.

Regarding his production venture, it is unclear when Battlefield will start filming. The release date and the cast are yet to be disclosed, so stay tuned for more!
