Seth MacFarlane is bringing back the iconic Ted franchise in animated format. Yes, the sequel series will be titled Ted: The Animated Series, and it will continue the story of the foul-mouthed teddy bear after the events of the two live-action films. So, without further delay, let’s discuss in detail all the recent developments regarding the upcoming series.
MacFarlane says the upcoming Ted series will tickle your funny bones
The new series will have creator Seth MacFarlane as the voice of Ted, while Mark Wahlberg returns as John Bennett. Amanda Seyfried is also reprising her role as Sam, alongside Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn, while Liz Richman is set to voice Ruth. According to Peacock, the animated series will be a sequel to the original Ted movies rather than a continuation of the recent live-action prequel show.
As per media reports, the exact plot details of the show are under wraps, but the streaming platform has stated that it will follow Ted and John’s “raunchy, comedic misadventures.” Peacock greenlit the project after the live-action Ted prequel series performed extremely well in terms of viewership, becoming one of the platform’s biggest comedy originals.
The new addition to the cast includes comedian and former Saturday Night Live star Kyle Mooney, who will voice a new character named Apollo. MacFarlane is executive producing the series alongside Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh.
MacFarlane told Peacock that while he will help get the new series “off the ground,” he will leave it up to his longtime collaborators Corrigan and Walsh to shape the creative direction of the series. He further said that the scripts are really funny and promised that audiences are going to love them.
“If the people running it are the right people—which, in this case, they are — you get to read these scripts and laugh out loud as a viewer and come at it from an objective standpoint. What they have cooked up is really funny, and I think people are going to love it,” MacFarlane said.
No exact premiere date has been announced for the show, but Peacock has confirmed it will be “coming soon.”
