57 years old Brendan Fraser trying to get into shape before Mummy 4 shooting

Brendan Fraser says he is training hard to get back in shape for The Mummy 4 as the actor prepares to reunite with the franchise after nearly two decades.

Brendan Fraser has had a career revival following his award-winning role in The Whale in 2022. He has a string of projects lined up, one of which is the much-anticipated return of The Mummy. In a recent interview, Fraser revealed that he is trying hard to get back in shape for the film as age catches up with the 57-year-old actor.

Brendan Fraser urges fans to wish him luck ahead of Mummy 4 filming

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Fraser talked about his upcoming project, The Mummy 4, which is scheduled to release in theaters on Oct. 15, 2027. He first donned the role of archaeologist Rick O’Connell when he was in his thirties. He had to perform a lot of action sequences for the previous Mummy movies, and the fourth installment is expected to be just as action-packed.

The actor suggested that the original crew is coming back together to give longtime fans what they have wanted for years. “We’re gonna get the band back together. The only way to do it. So, we are going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for, for the last twenty-whatever years,” he said.

Furthermore, he teased that the team is going to start filming very soon and then stated that he shouldn’t reveal too much, building anticipation among fans of the franchise. “What we’re gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations — I should probably stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away,” he further said.

Thereafter, he asked fans to wish him luck as he starts training for what appears to be a physically demanding role. “Please wish me luck. I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape.”

Fraser will be joined by Rachel Weisz, who played his wife in the first two Mummy movies. The third installment in the franchise, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, released in 2008, did not feature Weisz due to reported script concerns and scheduling conflicts.
