‘Daredevil Born Again’ showrunner reveals why Jessica Jones didn’t have a larger role in season 2

Daredevil: Born Again showrunner addresses Jessica Jones' smaller role in Season 2.

Daredevil: Born Again recently concluded its second season. The series is renewed for the third season, but the season finale left fans with many questions. One of these pertained to Jessica Jones’ limited role in Season 2, which the showrunner addressed recently.

Dario Scardapane on Jessica Jones’ fewer scenes in S2

Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane spoke to Variety recently, where he was asked whether he planned on giving her a bigger role early on or was he holding back the surprise, to which he said, “We were plotting out the season in acts, and it definitely seemed to be the second half, third-act area to bring her in. It also had a lot of scheduling. The thing that people don’t realize when you’re bringing together these actors, everybody’s career went to big places after the Netflix shows. So scheduling Mike, Krysten, Jon, and others is like herding cats.

Krysten Ritter reprised her role as Jessica Jones in season two of Daredevil: Born Again, though she appeared in the last 3 episodes. The scheduling conflict seems totally valid, but Scardapane also shed light on the plot as well. To make it all conclusive, the showrunners first had to place Fisk’s campaign strategically within the series’ plotline and also determine how that would play out.

Ritter is also returning to the third season, where her relationship with Luke Cage would play out as Defenders would take the centerstage int he Fisk’s conflict.

Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, fought tooth and nail to ensure a clampdown on the vigilantes, and the finale ended with Matt Murdock in prison. With Bullseye on the run, we know one thing for sure.

Luke Cage and his allies, including Jessica Jones and Iron Fist, will have to face new threats, and this is something Dario Scardapane recently hinted at. That there will be even more potential threats and new menacing villains.

Fans have speculated that Lady Muse might make her appearance alongside Kingpin and potentially, Bullseye, though none of it has been confirmed as of yet.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
