May is packed with some exciting movie releases. It is also a promising month for binge watchers who are looking forward to some of the best movies to indulge in. Variety gave their picks for the 22 best movies, and it seems like Netflix and Hulu are in the lead, so let’s dive right into it.
Netflix and Hulu in the lead for best streaming movies
Variety recently shared a list of 22 best movies to stream this month. It has a diverse range of movies covering different genres. What’s even more fascinating is how it panders to different media as well.
Hulu and Netflix are way ahead in the list with the movies they have to offer. There are horror thriller movies, and to start with, we have Send Help starring Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams. Both stars were praised for their performance in the film.
If you’re a fan of crime and drama, Netflix’s Dead Man’s Wire is the best pick. It stars Bill Skarsgard, Al Pacino, and Dacre Montgomery in central roles and also in a never-before-seen avatar.
Then there’s Netflix’s The Crash, which explores the case of Dominic Russo and David Flanagan. It’s a documentary that dives deep into the case and uncovers some of the chilling secrets.
Now coming to horror, we have two gems from Hulu, mainly We Bury the Dead, featuring Daisy Ridley and Brendon Thwaites, and The Home, starring Pete Davidson. While one explores the zombie hordes caused by military experiments, the latter is both a mush of psychological and body horror that would give you goosebumps for a lifetime!
Netflix’s The Black Phone 2 is also another addition to this one, as the horror and the creeps are promising, but there’s more. Arco, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, and Swapped are the perfect way to lighten things up after a horror movie.
For Mystery Buffs, there’s something in store for you. There’s Remarkably Bright Creatures, based on the novel of the same name, and it is available on Netflix.
We’re not leaving rom-com enthusiasts out. There’s Ladies First and Meet the Parents, which will be available for streaming in May.
Lastly, for viewers seeking spark, hope, and joy, there’s Room to Move, a documentary based on Jen Freeman’s own experiences, where she weaves her identity through her movement.
